Posted

The Novant Fieldhouse was the epicenter of high school hoops this weekend as Northern Guilford and Greensboro Day School (GDS) walked away with championship hardware at the 2025 AAR Invitational.

Point guard Leena McField put on a clinical performance to lead the Northern Guilford Nighthawks (9-2) to a 56-44 victory over Bishop McGuinness Villains (8-2). McField was the engine for the Nighthawks, earning Tournament MVP honors after scoring a game-high 29 points. She was nearly perfect from the floor and the charity stripe, shooting 10-of-17 overall and a flawless 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. McField also fell just one rebound shy of a double-double, hauling in nine boards.

The Nighthawks took control in the second half, outscoring the Villains 33-23 across the final two quarters. Aliyah Settle added 12 points and four assists, while Anaya Pearley contributed 11 points to the winning effort.

Bishop McGuinness struggled to find their rhythm against a stifling Northern Guilford defense, shooting just 27 percent from the field. Claire Sullivan led the Villains with 15 points, while Jenna Moore added 11 points and eight rebounds. Both Sullivan and Moore were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts throughout the week.

The following players made the Women’s All-Tournament Team: Claire Sullivan, Bishop McGuinness; Zoey Goodman, Grimsley; Shyla Simms, Grimsley; Anaya Pearley, Northern Guilford; Aliyah Settle, Northern Guilford; and MVP: Leena McField, Northern Guilford.
