No kings, no thrones, no crowns

Energized anti-Trump protesters jammed West Market Street and the entrance to Old Guilford County Court House, carrying an array of colorful signs denouncing autocracy and shouting, “No kings, no thrones, no crowns.”

In the third No Kings protest across the United States on March 28, local organizers estimated more than 3,000 people participated, with several groups marching in from UNC Greensboro, N.C. A&T State University and Congregational United Church of Christ, all within a mile radius.

In the street and on the grassy grounds of the courthouse, the protestors actively commiserated among themselves about their anti-Trump autocracy grievances and listened to speakers including N.C. Senior Supreme Court Associate Justice Anita Earls, declaring to cheers, “The message today echoing through this crowd and everywhere across this country is unmistakable. We do not bow to rulers. We do not bow to billionaires. We, in the United States of America, have no kings.”
