GIRLS

The three-time defending Northwest Guilford Vikings (12-2) continued their HAECO Invitational steak with a 65-47 victory over the Northern Guilford Nighthawks.

Northwest’s Elizabeth Kitley, a junior 6-foot-4 center, was named the tournament’s MVP with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and six blocks. Senior guard Lindsay Gauldin added 15 points and seven assists. The (9-4) Nighthawks were led by senior center, Elissa Cunane with 14 points and senior guard Mercedes Wampler with 12 points.

BOYS

The Bengals of Greensboro Day (17-2) won their sixth consecutive HAECO Invitational with a 73-49 win over the Golden Eagles of Smith High School, led by MVP senior guard John Newman. Newman finished with 24 points, six rebounds and two assists. Teammates Tripp Greene chipped in with 14 points and Noah Dunn added 11 points.

Senior guard Isaiah Bigelow led the Golden Eagles (11-3) with 11 points and seven rebounds.
