The Grimsley Whirlies held Northwest Guilford to a 14-7 half time lead but were outscored 20-7 during the second.
The Vikings amassed 372 yards rushing leading to a 34-14 non-conference victory. The Vikings (4-1) were led offensively by tailback Zackary Tyler, who rush for 109 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Teammate Kyle Finne added 131 yards on 12 attempts while quarterback Jacob Leonard contributed 125 yards on 12 carries and completed 7-of-16 passes for 119 yards.
Highlight for Grimsley was junior wide receiver Nile Harris’ 55-yard third quarter touchdown run. Northwest improved to 4-1 while Grimsley dropped to 2-4. This week Grimsley will have a bye week and Northwest will face Reidsville High.
