The Shirley T. Frye YWCA Reception

Peacemaker Staff Reports / June 24, 2016

Hundreds of well-wishers gathered at the YWCA Greensboro facility on June 12 for a reception honoring the woman after whom the facility is now named – Shirley Taylor Frye.

The facility’s new moniker was revealed in a ceremony on May 26 as the Shirley T. Frye YWCA of Greensboro. YWCA leaders said that Frye was chosen for her years of dedicated community service to the Greensboro community and the YWCA specifically.

Over the years, she has served on numerous boards and foundations, but has been a longtime supporter of the YWCA, starting when she joined the Board of Directors in 1963.
