Photo by Joe Daniels/Carolina PeacemakerThe 76th annual National Folk Festival concluded its three-day run in Greensboro attracting more than 100,000 music lovers. The free festival featured music representing African, Asian, Caribbean, Eastern European, Latino, Middle Eastern and Native American cultures. Performers showcased their talents in Folk, Blues, HipHop, R&B, Mariachi, Zydeco and Jazz to name a few.
More than 300 artists appeared on seven stages. Festival attendees across Greensboro are still raving about many of the fabulous performances, especially the Saturday and Sunday performances by legendary HipHop artist DJ Grandmaster Flash. He commanded an audience of more than 2,000 people.
Festival goers also enjoyed the North Carolina Arts Marketplace which featured hand crafted pottery, weaving, jewelry, basketry, carvings and crafts by artisans and craftspeople from across the country.
The 2017 festival will take place Sept. 8-10, 2017.
