The visiting Richmond County Raiders scored on their first two possessions marching 89 yards early in the second quarter to take a 14-0 led over the Dudley Panthers. The Panthers held the Raiders on downs with less than three minutes remaining. Then they marched deep into Raider territory. Dudley quarterback Hendon Hooker threw a pass into the end zone intended for Connell Young. That pass was picked off by safety Jaelin Beugre with 37 seconds left.

“We fought hard,” Dudley coach Steven Davis said. “We still made a lot of mistakes. We had a lot of bad snaps and had some bone-headed plays on defense.”

Dudley (5-1) lost a pair of fumbles in the first half, both recovered by Richmond County’s Carl Isaac.

Brion Seagraves took a direct snap on a fake punt 55 yards to put the Panthers on the board with 3:35 left in the first half. The extra point was blocked.
Hooker scored on a sneak on fourth-and-goal late in the third quarter. Dudley’s two-point attempt was no good as Hooker’s pass to Young was dropped.

The wildest play of the game occurred in the fourth when Dudley’s Simeon Gatling intercepted a pass in the red zone and returned it into Richmond County territory. However, the Raiders’ Antoine Shaw forced a fumble which running back Quientel Goodwin recovered.

“That was one of the turnovers that cost us in the end,” Davis said.
