The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Event is hosted by the Human Rights Commission. The 2024 MLK Breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on January 15 at the Sheraton Greensboro/Koury Convention Center, 3121 W. Gate City Blvd. The theme is ‘Inspired to Dream.’ and features keynote speaker Kenneth B. Morris Jr., cofounder and president of the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives organization.
UNCG MLK Day of Service

EUC Cone Ballroom, 507 Stirling St., Greensboro
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is an annual university-wide event which takes place every January to give UNCG students an opportunity to be introduced to different parts of the community while honoring Dr. King’s legacy through service. Participation is free. Volunteer teams will be led by a student facilitator and transportation is provided from campus.

Engage in a day filled with impactful activities, including service projects, a nonprofit fair, food drive, a community art piece, a photobooth, and special areas for children. Come together with our community to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through meaningful action and service.

Carl Chavis YMCA High Point MLK Day Parade

W. High and S. Main Street, High Point

High Point City Council Inauguration Celebration

Following the parade, a community celebration will be held at Truist Point Stadium marking the recent inauguration of the first High Point City Council with a majority of Black members.

Culler Center (921 Eastchester Drive, Suite 1230) will host “Reading Keepsakes: Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” The program will feature readings of King’s letters advocating for civil rights, narrated by a librarian from the High Point Public Library. UNCG Elliott University Center (EUC) in the Cone Ballroom
The 2024 annual MLK Birthday celebration will be held at UNC Greensboro’s Cone Ballroom on January 24, at 7 p.m. The event will be a collaboration between UNC Greensboro, N.C. A&T State University, and Guilford Technical Community College. This year’s theme is, “Dream it. Believe it. Do it. Developing Leaders for Tomorrow.” The event will be an interactive discussion about Black activism today. The event is free and open to the public and will include ASL interpreters.
