Hayes-Taylor YMCA Knicks Win Hot Hoops

The Hayes-Taylor YMCA Knicks summer league mixed boys and girls team (ages 9-10) captured the YMCA Hot Hoops Championship Saturday, August 17 at the downtown Greensboro Kathleen Price Bryan Family YMCA.

The Knicks defeated the Ragsdale YMCA Hornets 19-17 in a morning semifinal and slipped by the Bryan YMCA Hurricanes in an afternoon final 24-21 to claim the championship.

Early in the second quarter, Hayes-Taylor trailed 17-10 before rallying behind a 19-point effort by Knicks center Sherman Winston. The Hayes-Taylor Knicks finished the season 5-2 under first-year head coach Chelsey Coleman and assistant coach Daniel Cooper.
