Fun Fourth Festival 2022

Peacemaker Staff Reports / July 7, 2022

Greensboro’s annual Fun Fourth Freedom Fest made a return this year with all the activities and entertainment that people were used to, pre-pandemic. The day started with the annual Fun Fourth Freedom Run featuring a 10K, 5K and Fun Run that began at 7:30 a.m. at Center City Park. Later in the afternoon, food trucks, vendors and festival goers packed Greensboro’s downtown streets on the 4th of July for an array of musical acts, theatrical performances, a wagon decorating contest, a balloon maze and this year’s newest addition – a skating rink. Downtown restaurants and businesses also welcomed festival goers and offered Fourth of July specials. A special treat for fest attendees was the weddings that took place as part of a free wedding giveaway sponsored by Downtown Greensboro, Inc. Four couples were selected to exchange vows in front of family, friends, and the community in Downtown Greensboro, followed by a mini reception and plenty of festival fun. The fireworks show also returned this year and was held at the Greensboro Grasshoppers stadium following their home game.
