Joining millions of solar spectators across the nation, several dozen Dudley High School students joined their teacher Tomeka Littles-Thiam and Principal Dr. Marcus Gause to witness the partial eclipse.

Gathering at the raised edge above J.A. Tarpley Stadium, the students donned special eye protection glasses to observe the 82 percent partial eclipse, prompting responses of amazement such as, “Look at this!” to “You can still see sunlight.”

The next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on Aug. 23, 2044.
