The Page Pirates celebrated Homecoming upsetting the previously undefeated East Forsyth Eagles on Friday night, Sept. 23 at Marion Kirby Stadium.

The final score was 34-21. Senior running back Javon Leake’s 92-yard score put Page up 7-0 early in the first quarter. The Pirates capitalized on a fumbled punt recovering at the Eagles’ 20-yard-line. Three plays later, quarterback Will Jones scored from 10 yards out. Page led 14-0 with 2:24 remaining in the first quarter.

East Forsyth’s Madison Cone completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Christian Beal late in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 14-7. The Pirates closed out the first half marching 53 yards with James Currie scoring on a five-yard run. Page led 21-7 at the half. The Eagles were trailing 28-21 with two-minutes remaining in the game before Page’s Leake bolted 67 yards sealing the win.

Leake finished with 214 yards rushing. The Pirates improved to 5-1 and will be on a bye week, Sept. 30.
