More than 1,000 students, family and friends participated in the interactive annual STEM Family Night at Oak Ridge Elementary School. STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) teacher Mike Graham coordinated the event “to showcase to all attendees an array of STEM related activities that students have learned and are currently learning during STEM class.”

Shouts of joy, exuberance and delight filled every hallway of the school, where participants made “yucky slim,” delicious ice cream, banana electronic piano, paper copter floaters, launched robotic ring toss, concocted lip balm and many more projects and stations all involving STEM exponents.

Graham said, “The purpose of this family event is to showcase to all attendees an array of STEM related activities that students have learned and are currently learning during STEM class. Attendees participated in hands-on activities led by community volunteers, Core Technology, SAMET Corporation, High Point University, Oak Ridge Elementary students, staff, and parents.
