Panthers Pluck Falcons

The Dudley Panthers celebrated Senior Day with a 56-8 Metro 4-A Conference victory over Southeast Guilford Friday night at Tarpley Stadium. With the win, Dudley clinched second place in the conference (10-1, overall 4-1 Metro).

The Panthers scored on their first five offensive possessions. They marched 57 yards in five plays with Ezra Perkins scoring from 11 yards out. The PAT was good. The Falcons were stopped on a fourth down play deep in their own territory. The Panthers needed just four plays to cover 28 yards.

Quarterback Hendon Hooker’s five yard run lifted the score to 13-0. Hooker scored again on a four-yard run. The 2-point PAT was good.

As the first quarter ended, Dudley junior Zareik Rush broke a 70-yard run pushing the score to 28-0. Brion Seagraves’ 75 yard punt return closed out the first half scoring at 35-0.

The Panthers rushed for 303 yards led by Hooker with 8 carries for 77 yards and 2 TDs. Rush had 4 carries for 104 yards and one TD, while Perkins finished with 11 carries for 112 yards and two TDs. Linebackers Nigel Peele and Patrick Conner led the defense with 12 tackles apiece.
