2022 General Election Results

Guilford County Board of Elections (BOE) officials noted that this year’s midterm General Election early voting numbers were slightly higher than the 2018 midterm elections.

“It started off slow, then it just exploded,” said Charlie Collicutt, BOE Director.

The Board of Elections reported that 103,981 votes were cast during early voting, which includes provisional ballots and same day registrations. A total of 186,240 votes were cast in Guilford County out of 378,242 registered voters. These are complete, but unofficial results with 100 percent of the precincts reporting. The BOE will provide official totals after a canvassing meeting on November 18.

Guilford County Board of Commissioners

Incumbent At-Large Commissioner Kay Cashion retained her seat with 106,355 of the votes over Rep. Jerry Alan Branson’s 77,298 votes.

District 1 Commissioner Carlvena Foster ran unopposed and received 11,663 votes or 100 percent of the votes.

Republican Alan Perdue retained the District 2 Board of Commissioners seat with 14,201 votes over challenger, Democrat Paul Meinhart with 9,204 votes.

Democrat Derek Mobley faced incumbent Pat Tillman in the County Commissioners District 3 race. Tillman retained his seat with 16,870 votes to Mobley’s 15,772 votes.

Democrat Frankie T. Jones Jr. won the District 7 seat with 14,705 votes over Republican opponent Kenny Abbe who garnered 3,803 votes. Jones was initially selected by the Board of Commissioners to complete the unexpired term of the late Carolyn Coleman in March 2022. He then filed to publicly run for the seat in April.

Guilford County Board of Education

Democrat Alan Sherouse defeated Republican Demetria Carter 100,277 votes to 81,946 for the District 1 seat.

Republican Crissy Pratt defeated Democrat Amanda Cook 13,660 votes to 9,683, for the District 2 seat.

Republican Linda Welborn, the incumbent, defeated Democrat challenger, Deon Clark with 14,306 votes to 13,193.

Democrat Khem D. Irby retained her seat with 13,015 votes over Republican opponent Tim Andrew’s 11,781 votes.

Democrat Deena Hayes-Greene ran unopposed and retained her District 8 seat with 11,466 votes or 100 percent of the vote.

Lisa Johnson-Tonkins ran unopposed and was reelected to be the Guilford County Clerk of Superior Court with 119,050 votes.

Incumbent Guilford County Sheriff Danny Rogers (D) retained his seat by garnering 102,300 votes to defeat Republican opponent Phil Byrd, who had 81,743 votes. Rogers has held the job since 2018, when he defeated longtime Republican Sheriff BJ Barnes.

For the nonpartisan race for Guilford Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, Josh Myers with 67,310 votes and Anna Gerringer Amoriello with 59,208 votes, won the two seats by defeating Joshua (Fox) Brown with 55,208 votes and David Crawford with 54,011 votes.
