Toys for Joy at UNC Greensboro

Peacemaker Staff Reports / December 15, 2022

On a chilly evening, gracious giving from the heart warmed the atmosphere of the annual Toys for Joy toy collection drive held on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) campus. An army of joyous elves from UNCG, the Greensboro (N.C.) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the local chapter of the U.S. Tennis Association worked expeditiously to accept the abundant toy donations.

Kind-hearted donors drove in a car parade though the UNCG campus to the Alumni House on College Ave. At that point, the dutiful volunteers received the toys, which will be distributed during the holiday season to Family Room Triad for children in foster care.

UNCG Chancellor Franklin Gilliam and his wife, Jacquie Lyons Gilliam moved through the joyful hubbub of the evening as they greeted toy donors and assisted in filling a Spartan minibus with more than 500 toys.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year!
